An Elven and Whimsical Wedding in the Woods?
The wedding was held at dusk, with rosy clouds on the blue sky of Wales. The dreamy dome was decorated with white roses, flower balls and green plants. Bridesmaids were singing like elves in the woods, staring at their best friend Josie. It was one of the most important moments of her life.
It was also a best moment for Linennaive as every bridesmaid dress was custom made by our hands.
Entrusted by Josie, a Textile Design Student at St Central Saint Martins University, we designed these fairy bridesmaid dresses for her outdoor forest coast wedding. She and her fiance Warren chose to hold the wedding ceremony in Gower Coast in Swansea, South Wales.
They set out to gather their nearest and dearest in the woodland near their childhood homes, where ‘fields and forest meet the ocean’ and they could be close to nature. Josie said, "getting married outside meant that we were limited to a certain amount of decorations, but we worked with the beauty that was already there and just added a few key elements.”
I am sure that all of us have once dreamt of a marvelous wedding amidst moss and trees, and have fairies, elves and spirits as guests.
We, together with Josie, dyed the linen fabric burnt orange and ashed pink, that turn the girls into fairies and cornel flowers in the woods, in agreement with the forest theme of the wedding.
Each dress was custom made -Length, sleeve details, pintucks and bowknot are all elaborately designed. Linennaive hope that each piece is unique but also has the same elements and perfectly integrates classic elegance and simplicity. Despite the time difference, we finally managed to bring our works to Josie and her girls through numerous email communications.
This story happened a few years ago when we two students just made a desicion to bring Linennaive into real life. It is the first customization business of Linennaive and every time we look back at these photos the feeling was dynamite like the first kiss. It is a physical item made by us, but you make it a part of your life, with so many unique memories and stories.
And now we are ready to meet you in such a big world. Linennaive further perfect this design and name it vetiver. To share the feeling of dream, comfort and beauty with you every day.
